Elisha Cooke is elected to The Council by the House of Representatives.

1715

For the first time in 12 years, Cooke’s election is not “negatived” (disallowed) by the governor, who by this time is Joseph Dudley. Cooke and Dudley had been rivals for years, engaged in the battle between the “Old Charter” party and the Loyalists. By the end of the year, Cooke is dead and Dudley is no longer governor.
